Marlin Kraus

President & Mentor Coach / Skill Coach

Marlin Kraus has been a driving force in the basketball community for over three decades, both as a player and a coach. A former high school and University of Winnipeg player, Marlin combines his deep basketball knowledge with over 25 years of leadership experience. His coaching philosophy emphasizes respect, commitment, and character, ensuring his athletes are as prepared off the court as they are on it. With a proven track record of elevating teams and developing talent, Marlin’s mission is clear: to create well-rounded athletes who are ready for the challenges of college-level basketball.

Tyler Tynes

Known for his energy and infectious enthusiasm, Coach Tyler motivates athletes to give their all, especially on defense, where he believes champions are made. With a focus on fostering a relentless defensive mindset, Tyler brings a strategic approach that strengthens players’ resilience and adaptability. A dedicated mentor, he takes the time to connect with each athlete, ensuring they feel supported and valued. Coach Tyler’s presence is instrumental in creating a team culture of trust, hard work, and mutual respect.

Riley Douglas

Head Coach - Legacy 2012 Boys

Coach Riley’s balanced approach to coaching combines offensive strategy and skill development, helping players excel as individuals and as part of a cohesive team. Known for his high-efficiency offense and attention to individual growth, Riley builds systems that allow players to perform at their best within his play style. Beyond technical training, Riley instills core values of discipline and teamwork, believing that sports are a powerful vehicle for character building. His expertise in creating structured, effective offenses prepares his athletes for competitive success and life’s broader challenges.

Eric Fernandez

Head Coach - Prep Team (U21) / Mentor Coach

Eric Fernandez brings an extensive coaching background from club, league, and school programs, with a commitment to building teamwork and technical skill. His experience in the Winnipeg Athletic Association for Youth and Kelvin High School has made him an invaluable mentor, known for his tactical insight and skillful approach. Eric emphasizes fundamentals and teamwork, ensuring players are prepared for competitive play and personal growth alike. His passion for the game and his dedication to developing young talent make him a cornerstone of the Legacy coaching team.

David focuses on building strong fundamentals at the early stages of development, helping athletes establish the habits that support long-term success. His approach centers on teamwork, communication, and creating a positive, competitive environment.

He works to ensure each player gains confidence while developing the core skills needed to progress through the program.

Leslie Duhamel

Former USport athlete, high performance coach

Leslie brings elite playing experience into a structured development environment, focusing on fundamentals, movement, and consistency. Her coaching emphasizes building well-rounded athletes who understand the game and take ownership of their progress.

She supports players in developing confidence, discipline, and strong habits that translate on and off the court.

Jordan Lopez

Head Coach, 2009 Boys & High Performance Coach

Jordan integrates skill development with high-performance training, helping athletes elevate both their physical ability and basketball IQ. His sessions are built around intensity, precision, and measurable improvement.

He works with players to push their limits, refine their game, and compete at a higher level.

Nick Fletcher

Skills Coach

Specializing in the micro-skills essential for top-tier performance, Coach Nick focuses on refining athletes’ shooting, footwork, and confidence. With over eight years of experience, he meticulously breaks down complex movements into foundational skills, empowering players to reach their highest potential. Nick’s sessions are highly tailored to each athlete’s needs, offering targeted improvements that yield significant results. Beyond technique, he is dedicated to fostering a mindset of resilience and self-belief, encouraging athletes to embrace challenges with confidence and determination.

Binyam Zerihun

Assistant Coach, 2010 Boys

Binyam brings nearly three years of coaching experience across school and club basketball, including roles with Oak Park, J.H. Bruns, Jr. Bisons, and Junior Legacy. He has also worked alongside the Bisons men’s coaching staff through camps and skills sessions. Currently completing his Education degree at the University of Manitoba with a major in Math and minor in History, Binyam sees coaching and teaching as closely connected. He is committed to helping athletes grow in confidence, skill, and understanding of the game while continuing to give back through player development and mentorship.

Mykel Jan Caparas

Mykel brings a player-first approach to coaching, with a strong focus on skill development, basketball IQ, and building confident, well-rounded athletes. He believes strong players also need to become strong teammates who value communication, accountability, discipline, and playing for one another. Mykel creates an environment where athletes are challenged to improve every day, compete with confidence and purpose, and build habits that support long-term development. His goal is to teach the game, strengthen each player’s understanding, and help every athlete work toward their full potential.

Marko Trochanowski

Assistant Coach, 2011 Boys Center/South

Marko is passionate about developing well-rounded basketball players through strong fundamentals, basketball IQ, and a team-first mindset. With four years of experience coaching the Holy Ghost Middle School Tier 1 Boys Basketball Team, he brings a strong foundation in player development, communication, trust, and accountability. Marko believes individual growth is strongest when athletes understand how their effort contributes to the team, and he is excited to continue his coaching journey with Legacy while bringing energy, commitment, and a positive perspective to the program this season.
